Laurel joined her grandfather’s law practice in 2021, which later became Anderson & Ackerman Law Group. Today, her practice is entirely focused on social security disability law, where she represents claimants on their claim for benefits from application through hearings, and fights for denied claimants in federal court appeals nationwide. Her experiences as a Public Defender served as a natural crossover to assisting the disabled population, a path that began through her early exposure to her parents’ work as EDPNA representatives advocating for the disabled with their company, Anderson Marois & Associates.
Laurel and her husband, Chris, have a son and two dogs. They are avid Tampa Bay, Florida Gator, and Ole Miss sports fans. Laurel also enjoys volunteering for the Pinellas County History Day Competition, as a poll watcher and legal observer every election cycle, as an alumni advisor for Sigma Kappa sorority at USF and UF, and in various positions in the Junior League of St. Petersburg. She and her family are members of Lutheran Church of the Cross, where she currently serves on the Church Council.
